| Art and culture play an important part in Varese's history. This can easily be noticed by viewing the castles and villas, of which most were built by the Borromeo Family. A family well known for their rich, artistic flare in construction and design in what was then labeled " The Liberty Style". "The Liberty Style" represented for Varese the expression of the search of a new and modern style. |
| The Historical mecca of the city of Varese is Antico Borgo. It is here that many of these splendid and awe inspiring monuments are located such as the Basilica di San Vittore with its neoclassical facade and splendid paintings of P. Francesco Mazzucchelli inside. This, coupled with the Baroc Church Tower, and the annexed Battistero di San Giovanni are a highly recommended attraction, and not to be missed. Other notable places to visit are the palaces and villa,s of Varese, which make up a great part of the areas monuments. |
