2008 will see Ryanair and EasyJet increasing their flights from their hubs in Malpensa and Bergamo in an effort to capture the market share from failing airline Alitalia. At present EasyJet have the advantage of operating from Malpensa and Linate, though Ryanair is still talking with the Malpensa airport authority on an accord to have its planes fly out of Malpensa.
If Ryanair were to move to Malpensa the effect on the Italian second home property market for uk buyers would be that only the region of Varese and the Lakes of Maggiore, Varese and Como which all have good rail and motorway connections from Malpensa would be easily accessible.
