Sacro Monte Trinity Ghiffa

The Sacro Monte of Ghiffa was built between the late 16th and early 17th century around the already present Sanctuary Trinity. The three chapels represent passages from the Old and New Testaments. The frescoed terrace was added in 1752 It is made up of 14 arched vaults, each with its own frescoes, the Baroque Cappella dell’Addolorata was added at a later date. The sanctuary of the Holy Trinity dates back to 1591. Throughout the centuries it has been enlarged to house the many religious pilgrims who visit the site. The area around the Sacro Monte is now a nature reserve, it was established by the Region of Piedmont to protect the religious complex and the large woodland surrounding the Sanctuary.
