Villa Della Porta Bozzolo. Casalzuigno Italian lakes
Villa Della Porta Bozzolo was originally built in the 12th century and later redesigned in the 18th century into the villa you can see today. The new construction was organized around the courtyard which constituted the main entrance to the villa.
The interior of the villa is full of incredible frescoes which have been added during this period. During the second half of the 17th century the Della Porta family became such important land owners that they were able to dedicate there resources on the family properties.
It was at this time that the monumental park, was created with a landscape stair structure, this garden was created in the French style with extensive use of Viggù stone. On the northern side there is a fresco depicting Apollo and the Muses, painted by Giovanni Battista Ronchelli. The villa had its own private oratory, which today is used by the community of Casalzuigno as its parish church. The villa, also known as “La Favorita” was donated by the Bozzolo heirs to the FAI in 1989.
