Villa Recalcati. Varese Italian lakes

The Villa Recalcati in Casbeno, Varese, is today home to the Province of Varese and the Prefecture, the villa was built in the 17th century: At this time its appearance was very different from today, of the original building only a few parts can be seen today, such as the grand fireplace in the room used by the Prefecture, dated 1631. In the east wing you can see fresco painting by Giovanni Battista Ronchelli which depicts Moses saved from the waters, the crossing of the Red Sea and Moses causes the water to spring from the desert. In the main room he also painted Wisdom between Justice and Minerva. In 1874 the villa was changed into a hotel. In 1931 the Province of Varese bought the villa. Enrico Combi designed the gardens creating a classic French garden full of parterres.
