Natural Parks of Varese. Italian Lakes
- Parco Pineta di Appiano and Tradate
The park is located at the centre of the triangle between Milan, Como, and Varese. It is characterised by continuous and extended forests. The typical vegetation is the Lombard forest heath (woodland pine, English oak, chestnut, birch). Among the animals: fox, badger, squirrel, pecchiaiolo falcon, sparrow hawk, buzzard and nimble frog.
The presence then of an articulated web of roads and the proximity of train lines make this zone one of the most appetising for the use of the green surroundings.
- Parco Alto Milanese
It contains Busto Arsizio, Legnano and Castellanza presenting different natural environments: forests (latifoglie, conifers mainly locust trees, oak, birch) and undergrowth of elder and hazel.
Along the park’s pathways one can admire cultivated corn fields, barley, wheat, poppy fields and camomile. The park is populated by pheasants, magpies, wild rabbits, foxes, moles and buzzards.
- San Giacomo
Located in the commune of Vergiate, in proximity of Lake Maggiore, the park has forests of woodland pine and chestnut, shrubs, hawthorns, elder and bramble bushes. The animals: wrens, blackcaps, nightingales, chaffinch.
- Parco Campo dei Fiori
Composed by the massifs of the Campo dei Fiori and of Mount Martica, the park is managed by a consortium put together by the province of Varese and the interested mountain communes: Valceresio, Valcuvia, and Valganna.
- Parco Valle del Ticino (Ticino Valley Park)
The Ticino Valley Park includes 46 municipalities. The overall surface amounts to over 90.000 hectares, characterised by diverse natural environments and splendid landscapes. The fluvial area extends for about 100 km.
